One of the most popular series of dishwashers that Bosch makes is the 800 series. Traditionally speaking, the 800 series dishwasher has been super quiet, washes well, and has great adjustments on the inside of the dishwasher to accommodate different dishes. But the question remains: how do you make a fantastic dishwasher even better? Bosch's innovative engineers have introduced a new feature called Crystal Dry that enhances the drying process inside of their marquee dishwasher.

CrystalDry™ Technology

Bosch's CrystalDry™ technology, which takes advantage of the volcanic mineral Zeolite. If it weren't for our scientific understanding of what goes on with this mineral, we might think it was magical. When Zeolite (Greek for “boil stones”) comes into contact with water, energy that has been stored up in its extremely porous structure is let out as heat. On the other hand, when heated up, that water is released as steam, and it again takes in and stores the heat as energy.

In Bosch's CrystalDry™ system, the Zeolite crystals are heated while the dishwasher is running, preparing them for the drying cycle. Once the washing is done, a fan at the top sucks the moist air from the main tub, and pushes it down to where the Zeolite is. The Zeolite then adsorbs (similar to absorption, yet not the same) the water, giving off heat in the process. The hot air is then vented back out into the main tub, which heats the dishes before grabbing some excess moisture and going through the cycle all over again. This leaves the dishes – even plasticware – very dry, and ready to be put away right away.
